    Dear RBMS Parents and Guardians:

At approximately 11:20 am this morning a 911 call was made to the Douglas Police Department claiming a bomb threat at Ray Borane Middle School. The Police Department Emergency Team responded immediately. An evacuation was immediately called. Teachers were directed to take their grade books and to take roll. The District sent several busses and our students and staff were transported to Paul Huber Middle School. Students that did not receive a lunch prior to the evacuation were fed lunch when they arrived at Huber. Mrs. Samaniego, our assistant principal, Robert Rodriguez our security officer and Teo Rodriguez our counselor, were directed to go to Huber Middle School with the students and staff. I was directed to remain at RBMS with the officers, investigation team and our superintendent, Mrs. Rogers.  A thorough search was conducted throughout the entire campus and no bomb or any threat of any kind was found. The building was cleared at approximately 1:00 pm. Busses returned to Huber and began bringing our students and staff back to our campus 1:30 pm.

I want to thank the Douglas Police Department, DUSD security staff, Mrs. Rogers and our students and the entire Ray Borane Middle School staff for their quick and professional response. Every effort was made to keep our students and staff safe.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me at (520) 364-2447 Ext. 6000

    Sincerely,

    Mary Good

Believe To Achieve

Dear Parents, Guardians, Students and Web Viewers,

Welcome to Ray Borane Middle School, home of the cougars!  We are excited to see all of our in-coming and returning students. Ray Borane Middle School welcomes our families and we look forward to a successful school year and developing partnerships with our families!

Within our walls you will find a safe, collaborative, and fun learning environment where all teachers share a common goal: to help students meet and exceed the performance levels required by the Arizona Department of Education. We will attain this goal in a professional learning community environment which promotes a sense of belonging and responsibility to the individual teacher and the grade level team. Professional learning communities provides students with a shared group of teachers who guide them through the learning activities of the year.

At RBMS we encourage collaborative teaching and learning from our staff and our students. Our teachers create a print-rich learning environment and our classrooms are safe and orderly. We expect our students to take individual responsibility for their learning and we encourage family involvement.

Parents, you are encouraged to remain active in your child’s education at RBMS. We invite you to consider volunteering for a favorite teacher, volunteer for a special event, or take a leadership role in PTSO. If you have specific questions about our school policies please review the RBMS Student and Parent Handbook. If you need further information please don’t hesitate to contact us.

We want to share many thanks to all of our families that have donated supplies to the school and the classrooms. We want you to know how much we appreciate the extra help!

Couple reminders that we need for you to keep in mind, be sure that your child does not arrive to school before 7:30 am at which time supervision will begin on our playground. If you run into a situation where you must drop your child off early please remind him/her to go directly to the cafeteria.  Breakfast is free to all students.  Dropping off and picking up students has a few wrinkles that need to be ironed out. For the safety of all students and staff please do not stop in front of the school to do so.

Remember! Our Title One grant provides free supplemental tutoring after school. Please contact our parent Liaison, Miriam Carbajal for more information on the various vendors that offer services in reading, writing and math.
